Chamber Minutes

 Wednesday, April 15, 2026

Council on Aging 


Board Members’ Present: Billie Hires, Darren Williamson, Jeff Nelson, Ted Gogol, Tracy Mast, Laurel Ward, Breanne Lee and Dianna McGrew 


Board Members Absent: Eugene Wagner, Melinda Stockwell, Julie Hartman

O’Neal’s brought in lunch, we took the first 20 minutes to eat and socialize.


Call to Order at 12:20 p.m., by President Hires


Roll Call: noted above


Public Comments: none


Renewal of Board Members: Letters were sent out to all members of the Chamber; no nominations were received.


Moved by Tracy and supported by Jeff to retain Eugene Wagner, Darren Williamson, Laurel Ward, Ted Gogol and Melinda Stockwell as Chamber Board Members for the 2026 -2028 term.  Motion carried.


Just as a notation: Julie Hartman, Tracy Mast, Billie Hires, Jeffory Nelson, Breanne Lee and Dianna McGrew; terms continue through April 2027.


Election of Officers:


Moved by Tracy and supported Jeff to retain the current officers:  Billie Hires, President; Darren William, Vice President; Breanne Lee, Treasurer and Dianna McGrew, Secretary.  Motion carried.


Minutes: March’s minutes. Motion by Darren and supported by Tracy to approve March 18, 2026, minutes as presented. Motion carried.


Treasurers Report Breanne emailed to the board the Account Transactions, Trial Balance sheet, Profit & Loss Statement and Balance Sheet. Motion by Tracy and supported by Ted to accept & approve as received and place on file the treasurer’s reports as emailed.  Motion carried. 


Old Business:


Golf Outing: Tracy reported we have 18 teams signed up, leaving 2 opening for additional terms.  Would like to have a few more sponsorships.  Still in need of ‘Swag’ and ‘Raffle’ items.  Tracy would like to meeting with those that have volunteered to help that day (June 19th) to finalize needs.


Senior Tumblers: Jeff, also would like more sponsors, there are 68 graduating and each sponsor receives a tumbler.  Anyone wishing to provide an item for in the graduates tumbler, please get with Jeff. 


New Business:


Rebranding/Name Change:


Renaming the Chamber from ‘Cassopolis/Vandalia Chamber of Commerce’ to; discussion followed.


Consensus was to settle on ‘Cassopolis Chamber’ and for the site Cassopolis Chamber.org.  Kate will provide by email a few choices for our new logo.  Need to be chosen before next meeting so it can be used on items purchase for ‘Golf Outing’ and all other documents. 


Will file DBA with county and update the URL Also, will purchase 10 years for $150. We will keep old hosting until it expires next year.  Motion by Tracy and supported by Bree; Motion carried.


Chamber Guide/Directory:


Eileen Crouse presented a proposal from her consulting business for a 24-page Area Guide & Membership Directory Magazine that will come out in spring of 2027 and will be a Spring-to-Spring magazine that will highlight local businesses, showcase community assets and provide valuable information for residents & visitor while promoting Chamber membership.


The magazine will be supported through advertising sales and produced in collaboration with professional design and printing partners. The project will be funded entirely through advertising revenue. A detailed budget outlining production expenses is attached to the proposal. The total cost is $8,200.  If advertising sales do not meet the $8,200 threshold by October 1, 2026, the project will terminate.  Will put Ad Rates & information on our website. 


Moved by Ted and supported by Darrin to sign the Proposal and go forward with the project.  Motion carried.


Chairperson Hires adjourned the meeting at 1:25 p.m.
